Our summer vacation is over and new beginnings are on the horizon. Autumn brings fresh adventures and the launch of the 2025 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards entry season!
Everyone has inside something precious, demanding respect, making us all naturally equal.
HOW TO GET STARTED:
- Visit artandwriting.org to log in or create your teen or educator account. You will be prompted to confirm your contact information if you are a returning user. Be sure to include an email address you check regularly.
- Follow the instructions in your account to upload original art or writing work and complete your entry. Check out our How to Enter page to support you through the process and our Category Descriptions to select the most appropriate category for your work.
- All NYC entries are due by 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
- Spread the word about the Awards to friends, family, and neighbors.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM A MAGNIFICENTLY CREATIVE 2024!
- Over 3,000 NYC students across the five boroughs entered 13,000 creative works for the 2024 Scholastic Awards!
- NYC teens received over 4,000 regional awards at the Honorable Mention, Silver Key, and Gold Key levels!
- Gold Key winners moved on to compete nationally and earned over 100 National Medals for their art and writing entries!
- Nearly 500 Gold Key works were featured at the High Line Nine Gallery in June with 1,000 attendees joining us for the Opening Reception.
- This year we had nearly 900 attendees at our Regional Awards Ceremonies for Gold Key winners.
- The New York City Scholastic Awards presented six regional scholarships to outstanding Silver Key and Gold Key winners from public schools. Celebrate our $500 cash award recipients: Wahida Amin from Queens Gateways Health & Sciences, Faith Brooks from Art & Design HS, Carleigh Joy Dunn from LaGuardia HS for Art & Music, Uzuri Mangrum from DreamYard, Diego Mora from Art & Design HS, and Harold Sherman from Edward R Murrow HS.
